N.A.L.S. (North America Lake Series)

Hopefully Bret can Post a few pics from the NALS weekend on Magic Res!

Top 5 Final placings were:

1st -Pete Erickson --TeamUSA

2nd -Bret Bishop --TeamUSA

3rd -Devin Olsen-- TeamUSA

4rth -Kurt Finlayson--TeamUSA

5th -Tom Delorenzo --Boise, Idaho

It was one 5 hour session on Sunday at Magic Reservoir in Idaho.

There is an info packet on how to host and run your own NALS tourney that will be available soon.

I've been racking my brain for months trying to think of how to pull it off. So far I can't find a suitable lake with boat rentals below Montreal!! We have the Quebec Provincials which has one full day (2 sessons) of loch style and that's highly accessible to most in the NorthEast. I've been considering some "unorthodox" ways of pulling this off though. One option is a "you supply your own craft" type event. I'm going to run a test soon with Mark to see if two guys in seperate single man pontoon boats can, to some extent, effectively fish/control together. If it's possible I think we'll have the basis to open up more competitions.

originally scheduled for 4 boats and 8 competitors...but one last second no-show shot it down to 7 total guys...

A nice number to shoot for in future NALS comps is probably going to be between 12 and 20 dudes. at least until the format evolves a little more...

A lack of trout lakes in the SE certainly poses challenges to organizing an event like this. I do like the idea, however, of improving our lake fishing skills. We do have a couple lakes available with trout but we, like you Dejon, run into the boat problem. Most of our trout lakes are below dams and when generating have a bit of current so we need motors to return to shore.

I heard they added another lake venue in the World's to replace the blown out River Solinka. This recent NALS comp should prove useful over there for you Team USA boys. Good luck and we will be rooting for ya.

This was a fun event and a great way for Pete and I to work out some of the kinks. The weather was perfect with consistent winds and the fish were strong. Pete even had one jump right into the boat on its third leap. Pete, Devin, and I all finished with 8 fish with Pete getting 5 in the last 20 minutes. After the comp session we kept on fishing and even went back on Monday for more. Magic is a great venue.

With spring coming there is sure to be some more NALS style comps in the future. The ice is still solid around here. TL is the place to look for updates.

I want to know more about it, up here in Quebec is the perfect place to hold one, It would serve the north/east US and Eastren Canada. The thing about Quebec is that we have a system call pourvoiries, witch is like the Brits Lochs, where we you pay to fish, but the have boats motor and most have more then one lake. Anyone who fished the 2008 Canadian Nationals In Mont Tremblant did there lake session at Pourvoiries Baroux, that is just one of a 1000 here.
