NALS in NC
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:55:19 PM »
Team Stonefly will be hosting one or more NALS events this spring and summer.

The first will be the weekend of March 30th/ April 1st.  2 days, 4 sessions total on Tanassee and Wolf Creek lakes.  Sign ups will commence after the SE.

Just giving everyone a heads-up.

Great! Definitely need more Lake competitions imo.  Only way to get better!

imo we are really lacking on decent stillwater for trout fishing. Only places in Georgia are very hit or miss, and or private stocked lakes.  Sadly Georgia stocks their lakes in the spring and summer, when mortality is the highest and Georgias heat index is at the highest.  Who wants to compete, or fish in a lake or river with temps over 90 degrees on average...it is not respecting the fish to stress them during such a rough time.

Sounds great Dell, let me know. Save some travel time and expense.  We have an idea for a few. Plus we have the Callaway Loch Style comp that same weekend.

Yes, strong investigative work by Paul Colcord uncovered a regulation that allows anglers to fish Hatchery supported waters in March...if those hatchery supported waters are dam controlled.  I believe that is how it is worded.

Once I have the logistics down, I'll post more.

Just wanted to clarify that this reg. only applies to reservoirs or impoundments that are Hatchery Supported. Didn't want anyone running out to their nearest NC tailwater to go fishing in March.

So...the tuckaseegee being dam controlled is open in March, and is the lower nanty being both of those rivers, from the river sense recieve hatchery supported stockings on their DH sections? Dont fish either one very much but just trying to get clarification.

Ben,

I believe it is Hatchery supported impoundments (dam controlled lakes), and all DH waters that are open to fishing in March.

Good catch Chris.  I assumed everyone knew we were talking about reservoirs.  My bad.
