Back by popular demand: Team Mayfly will be hosting a 1 day "mini" competition on Spring Creek, State College, PA.

Date: August 14th 2011
Start: Early AM
Format: Competitors fish 2 sessions/control 2 sessions
Ranking: Bronze
Pot: 10$ 50/50

Start time and location TBD.

What part of Spring will we be fishing for the comp?

Anita,

I believe we are looking at the McCoy section again. It works really well for the mini comp...lots of parking, not a busy section of SC so we are not bothering the anglers in the more popular areas (paradise, benner spring), and very easy for angler/controller just a long straight shoot for the most part!

Ok. I agree with the convenience of that section.......just still having flashbacks of the NE comp and that water. Ugh....guess it's time to give it another go, and crack that nut....

Don't worry it is nothing like it was during the NE Comp. It is a lot of fun to fish now.

2 weeks out so we'll close the McCoy section of Spring Creek again to competitors for this comp.

Good luck to all with the comp, will be leaving soon with work. Fished the creek yesterday and as usual was hard, 2 in 2 hrs. on GW. Don't freaking know what I'm doing wrong! Need to put put some serious time in that section to overcome the issues.

UPDATE:

Meeting place: Spring Creek McCoy Dam Boat Commission Parking lot Sunday.

We will have the competitor draw at 7am sharp Sunday. Please arrive on the dot or a little earlier. 30 minutes for draw and 30 minutes to scope your beat... then we're on a strict schedule to wrap up by 6pm.

Please bring your lunch and hydration to the event so you don't have to run off during the break and possibly cause late starts.

Also, everyone bring a watch to keep time.

I arrived in state college today. Spring creek is in exellent shape for this time of year. Water levels and temperatures look very good in the lower sections. Looks like they are calling for rain Sunday.
