SpringCreek Mini II Results
« on: August 15, 2011, 08:55:08 PM »
We had another very successful competition.  Heavy rain swept in to blow out the 3rd session, but the creek was in perfect condition on either side of that window.  Many thankyous to the Goods for housing the majority of the field at their palatial Penns Creek "Cabin".  And thank you to everyone who drove from far and wide to make this such a fantastic comp. I continue to learn wonderful new and painful things on each and every session I fish and I've heard the same from many other competitors.

Congratulations to all the competitors on their finishes regardless of the outcome.  Just being "in the game" is what it's ALL about.

I would also like to send a shout out to my friend Allen Bole.  Despite many very disappointing finishes over the years this guy just keeps coming back for more and with a cheerful spirit to boot!  You have what I believe is the highest grade of a true competitors heart and I'm looking forward to seeing you at the next competition, and the next, and the next...

How do you decipher the numbers?

Small numbers are your placing pts, large numbers are your fish pts.

Adam,

They have a draw for two sessions in the morning and afternoon. So you're fishing against the 6 other anglers drawn in your group. Depending on how many fish you catch you're awarded placing points - first place gets 1 placing point, 2nd place gets 2 placing points and so on. The other numbers, which serves as a tie breaker, are fish points. Whoever has the least amount of placing points at the of the day wins.

Congrats guys, nice pics too.

A big thanks to Dejon, Mark, Pat and the rest of Team Mayfly for putting on a great comp. It was well organized and the Beat layouts were well thought out. I had a great time with everyone and learned allot especially never sit down while controlling Pat  LOL. The amount of knowledge sharing was fantastic.
I also loved calling Steve and Andy to let them know that they were only separated by 1cm. I personally lost too many fish at the net. It gives me something to work on.  I'm looking forward to many more comps in the future. Now on to the Cup.

The palominos generally float down (I won't give them credit for swimming) from Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte, where they are stocked as display fish -- a practice more than questionable in such high-value wild trout water.
