Spring Creek was the stream....the comp was held right outside of Milesburg at the McCoy Dam area.

How many sessions and groups did you have for the competition? Was it tough to find controllers or what method did you use for recording the results of the session(s)?

Todd, we used the "competitor/control" method which has become the standard for TL "mini" comps over the last 2 years. Anglers fished two 1.5hr sessions and controlled two 1.5hr sessions. Two groups A/B of 7.

On the way home I was brainstorming some variations on this format and exact footprint by splitting beats and swapping at half-time-intervals. Still keeping 6 hours total fishing pressure and 7 100-200yrd beats.

At 21 angler field we can have 3 groups of 7 A/B/C fishing 3 two hour sessions. Each competitor fishes 2 two hour sessions, and then controls 1 (beats split, 1 controller at half way mark, competitors swap ends at half time).

At 28 angler field we can have 4 groups of 7 A/B/C/D fishing 1.5 hour sessions. Each competitor fishes 2 1.5 hour sessions, and controls 2 (beats split, 1:1 competitor/controller, competitors swap ends at half time).

Over 30 anglers seems pertinent to move to a multiple day/venue event.

Good job guys. That looks like a really nice stream. I may have to forgo my annual trip to Penns at Christmas time to that place. Is it close to Denny's Beer Barrel Pub so I can get my 15lb burger on?

C, we passed my camera around and Brandon Matthews did a full tour with it one session when he had to "control" the Ghost. That dam Ghost... I heard he doesn't sleep - he just enters a different state of fishing. Would be great to have a professional photographer though like those DeadDrift boys do, but I think this worked well to document it... and I did a little post editing/cropping.

The venue is truly amazing just as much of that creek is. Really unfortunate that many of you weren't able to experience all that she can offer at recent competitions. And the bikini hatch wasn't too bad either.

Nope, no turd Aaron! You may not know that Pat has a very strict definition of a fly - if the blood from the animal isn't warm at the time of tying then it's not a fly. And cold green chenille wrapped over lead certainly doesn't pass the "Word of Weiss."

Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank Dejon, Pat and all others involved in setting up the Spring Creek mini. The event was well organized, a great time and I really learned a lot. I also appreciate everyones support in helpping me get through my first competition. I'm looking forward to fishing with everyone again at some point and contributing more to the site.

Thanks again, and yes a new net is on order.
