Played with one for a bit, but I wasn't nymphing with it. Cast a dry nice and cleanly, good tip flex from what I remember. Beautiful components.

They actually released a 2pc 10' 3wt (GLIII I think) way back and I used that rod at the Canadian's in Fernie. Now that was a beautiful rod to nymph with. My team Captain lent it to me... he almost didn't get it back.* Fabulous soft action on it. You could easily feel the soft plucks from the mountain whitefish we were targeting. If the newer rod performs anything like the older one, it's going to be a sweet stick.

Mark,

Its a really good rod, my favorite without a doubt. It can handle a decent amount of weight and has enough backbone to land some large fish. I feel like it cleaned up my technique because the tip is so unforgiving. Like Aaron said the rod was designed for nymphing but still throws a nice line.

Sounds like its more of a Czech rod and not the best choice for more of a french style. Ill have to check it out some time to see what i think of it.

As a left coaster for 11 years, GLoomis is my favorite rod company. I have noticed over the years I tend to break more GL rods, but the feel is incredible. Big fan!
