Based on some of the feedback from this site, I picked up a Frabill #3607 net to replace my old wooden net for stillwater fishing. A very inexpensive net, I made a few modifications to increase its bouyancy and reduce the amount of noise it makes in an aluminum boat. Thus far its one of the best nets I've used out of a boat, and in this case I cut it down to competition length.

Nice Mod Chris. Glad you like the net - it's really the easiest solution for lakes I've found yet. Nothing like a gorgeous wooden net for pics though, eh?

No doubt the wooden net is like carrying your own picture frame! I just don't know how many I can break before I go crazy.

This unit should last a long time. And unlike my OLD telescopic Collapisble nets, this one won't sink to the bottom when my partner accidentally rocks the boat. It's never fun being stranded without a net.

And I like the idea of spending $30 rather than $200...

Did you get the Frabill locally or did you order from the UK? I think you told me, but my brain is like a sieve thanks to all the scotch
