Echo 3 is of Echo's new rods. Has anyone tried one yet? I'm interest in hearing about the 6wt. and 7 wt. 10'. Could they make a good lake rod?

I haven't used that rod, but I've used some of their previous rods for lake applications (I haven't tried their stream nymphing rods yet). They are a good casting rod and I like them. Perhaps not as senstive in the tip as some, but still very good for the price. But I qualify that as saying that the rods I've used (and still do) from Echo were from the previous generations 4 or so years ago. They have really expanded their selection since then and added some smart options - and improved upon an already good setup (all the way down to the sensitivity of the cork handle).

But I'd like to hear feedback about the Echo 3 as well, as my experience goes back to prior generations.

Seth, Buice told me it was one of the best casting rods he's ever had in his hands, coming from a diehard Scott fan I'd say it's probably a nice stick. I know he has at least a 9 ft. 5 wt. I'll try to see if I can get my hands on it and big it to our next practice.

I fished one all this fall and used it all through the Quebec provs and Canadian Nationals witch was a loch style comp so it was long casts. Cast well and recovers fast, landed a couple hundred fish on it since june and never felt I dropped a fish because of it, I'll be using this again next season.
