Nice little article Alain! I can see you making a mark writing articles for the big rags.

Now that I've seen 2 pieces of your work I'm curious about some of the details of your fishing process.  It seems you're utilizing a version of a "long lining" nymphing process.  Are you exclusively using a very long section of level leader to throw various heavily or "big but not heavy" flies?  Have you dabbled with some of the possibly more refined Euro Nymphing principles and the use of lighter flies?  What are your thoughts on the "hinge" aspect of a 15lb to 5x in regard to energy transfer?  Also, I see a great variety in your "large anchor" box - what are your thoughts on the variety of patterns you take streamside?

Alain happened to Alain's posts.  He chose to delete ALL his web offerings for personal reasons.

If you enjoyed his material as much as I truly did you may want to try and drop him a line to convey that thought.

However, my impression was he needed to "disconnect" to "reconnect".

You know, I have to admit I think often about traveling that road!

I continually learn and flourish from my internet/forum time, but the few negative encounters and ongoing "battles" associated purely with my "virtual life" are so incredibly vexatious it makes me want to call up my local internet provider and ask them to not only cut off my cable, but not allow me to resubscribe for the next 10 years!

I love this excerpt from Tom Bie prefacing the reissue of "Trout Bum":
"I doubt John Geirach spends much time on the Internet.  Not his kind of place.  But if he did, and if he were to visit some fly fishing message boards - those time sucking soap boxes of cubicle-bound angers everywhere..."

Here's hoping Alain finds what he's looking for...

I could use a reset button right about now myself.

Well,
this isn't the only forum that ole Alain has chosen to do the same.  It really is too bad, he writes good stuff and has a knack for it.  I don't quite understand it all, if it was because of someones ill will, or negative impact it truly  is a shame.  But to each his own, I hope he finds whatever it is he is looking for.  The problem with forums and internet banter is the persons true feelings, mannerisms and facial expressions aren't ever conveyed and things get blown way out of proportion and taken the wrong way.  Oh well....... do your own thing....I do ;D

That's a real shame. I thoroughly enjoyed reading his highly-informative posts and his thoughts regarding patterns and techniques.

I sincerely hope he comes back when he is ready...
