Egg Patterns
« on: December 13, 2010, 11:06:24 AM »
Hey guys I was wondering if in a competition, if egg patterns, be it Glo Bugs, Soft Eggs, Sucker Spawns or Crystal Meth, are acceptable comp flies.

I didn't see it in the rules anywhere. And there normally a really good go to pattern for winter fishing and if I'm not allowed to use them in competition, then I don't want to use them in normal everyday fishing so they don't become a crutch from me.

If you know please let me know. Thanks guys for all the help.

It's all about angles. A good angle creates a good presentation which in turn puts more fish in the net.

Eggs are legal.

Eggs and hot beads are legal as per the rules if constructed as per the fly dressing section, etc, but for some reason they are outlawed at certain comps.  I think it's a limp attempt to sooth local fly fishing "conservations".  It's our intention to follow fips-mouche rules as closely as possible, without modification unless required by a certain venue, at all the competitions we have full say in.
