Felty soles
« on: April 12, 2010, 01:17:10 PM »
Is there anyway to clean felt soles to rid them of invasives?     I have been told no.

If this true, then I guess I will have to replace my felt soles.   The problem is that I have a pair of the rubber soles with studs for my korkers.  Because the studs are so small, these soles really do not provide me with enough traction.  I have been looking at a Simms boot with or without studs.   I am looking at the Simms b/c they offer a wide boot.   Would appreciate some guidance.

I fish a lot free stone streams with big, slippery rocks and I suck at wading.

Thanks

Mike

No matter what you wear invasives are going to be spread.
They will get into the eyelets, laces and into any microscopic crevices.

The only way to SLOW the spread is to disinfect your boots including your waders
in a mild soap solution. Don't use bleach. Soak them for a while in a tub.
Opinions vary on the length of time.

I assume that you fill a tub full of hot water and add some dishwater soap and let your boots and the legs of your waders soak.   For how long do you let them soak?

I usually let them set an hour or so.
