Bait Fish Lakes

What are your guys thoughts on trout lakes/reservoirs that are stocked or have a heavy population of bait fish like Alewives?  Is it worth it to imitate anything besides that baitfish ala: will the trout in that lake become prey specific like Steelhead?

good question and you beat me to the punch and let me expand it to anyone that has a good alewife pattern other than a white bugger.
