I used to hate these conditions but I have been working hard and it has been paying off.

Wish I coulda been there!

Did they all come on the plop? Would you say the floater/buzzer might outshine the pulling lures now on a regular basis there?

Not all of them but if I covered a rising fish it took on the plop.  There were no fish rising in a pattern--they were all oncers.  But if I could cover a mature "oncer" I got him or missed him (saw my backing on a few of these brutes).  Funny, the smaller stocked fish would not take on the plop...could only get them pulling and even then it was sketchy.  I was not targeting them anyway...

Took fish blind and static which was driving all the boats trolling flies nuts. :)

Remember that "just feeling heavy" thing I was discussing with you....yep, uh-huh!

I am still baffled why every fish in the lake was not up and eating the drakes.  It was windy last night and I think the hatch was put off until dawn....when I got there the spinners were mid tree height.  I was sure I was going to be fishing dries.....nope.  nothing.  nada.

I think I had a 10-pounder on.  Horsed it because I was getting tired and the hook pulled.  Never saw it--maybe I foul hooked it.  Dunno but what a fight.

I'm thinking about getting a motor for my pontoon so I don't have to wait on you to go fish her now! Only half kidding  8)

Man, that's awesome.  I can only imagine what a 10lb rainbow in that lake might fight like.  Mine was what 4 maybe at the most?  And it was quite a battle.

I still don't get why the smaller fish are relatively harder to take though!? You'd think they'd be sure things since there's basically no one else working the skinny water.

With no drift whatsoever did  you pick up and motor around a lot or just target the likely areas?

Dejon,

I did not chase fish with the boat, but I did cast off the other side of the boat to get a fish.  I would cover an area the best I could.  I did watch the water all to trying to find areas with increased activity--then I would go to them and fish for a period of time.

It is mindwrenching knowing you are not moving over new water/fish.  It's important to keep your flies wet for as long as you can so that if a fish swims by you have something for it to eat.  Takes today were not easy at all to detect...the last time I was out I fished the same way and takes were stellar.  Today you had to see them cause you weren't feeling too many.

Tomorrow:  cloudy with rain and a breeze.  Kewl!

Frank:  what can I say...I am an idiot. :)
