From the looks of Rich's night photos it definitely seems like he and the nocturnal tanks are not strangers.

That fish didn't come from the Farmington, but fish in that class have been known to grace the layers of my net from the Farmington in the cover of darkness in the past.  That fish was actually taken at night on the Delaware system.  True funny story is, that beauty is actually nothing special compared to some of the other river monsters I have hooked and/or had the pleasure of finding there.   Big systems cough up big fish, funny thing is while the hatch matchers are out there casting long leaders and tiny dries for sipping browns during the day, I'm usually still sleeping from a night of chasing the real big ones....good stuff.   I think I was a vampire in my last life, 7 years of working 3rd shift might have had something to do with it....LOL

Rich, I think you and my buddy Chris would enjoy fishing together.  There are few things he likes more than pulling deer hair mouse patterns across the Dele at night!  I'm usually too beat up from fishing all day to join him :)

Good stuff, I've heard of some really big browns coming out of there. Anyone seen the Joe Humphreys night DVD? If so is it worth buying?

Rich, in most night fishing pictures you see the angler looking like they are from "28 days later" you seem much more alive during devil's hours. Haha  Good stuff!

I love the night game, me and my night fishing partner obsess about it.  In fact we have our whole night season planned.  It's a sickness, sleep all day, fish all night.  Kind of like the tug is the drug theme.  Big fish make me happy, its my drug.

I really got to get into the night game more. I have so many big rivers that hold some lunkers. Now if only I can find another nutcase that is willing to stay up all night chasing 2ft brown trout in the Clarion River.

Clarion in PA?  That river holds whoppers alright.  I fished there once and managed a 23 incher there during the day, and after talking with Kurt at Clarion River Outdoors, that was nothing to shake a stick at.  HMMMM, I would be willing to take the 7 hour drive up there to chase big browns at night there with you sometime.  That river has the potential to cough up the new PA state record.   NO JOKE

There are some beast I have hooked 30in class trout. Its my home river Rich or atleast the river I really cut my fly fishing teeth on.  Let me know if you are up for trip the only thing that sucks about the river and night fishing is it is a tuff stream to wade.  My biggest fish have been in the 2ft class.  The river has a lot of 20in trout but we don't talk about fish until they get around 24"  I know Kurt pretty well he knows his stuff and is a heck of a nice guy.

Ya,
I haven't talked to Kurt in over a year, he is a salt of the earth kind of guy, very good fisherman and tier too.  That place is very similar in characteristics to our Housatonic down here.  Same types of structure, feel and just as miserable to wade.  I would definitely be up for roadtripping up there in the future as I really liked what I saw in that stream.   Keep me in the loop, if you see Kurt around tell him I said hello he should remember me.

Jordan we have all kinds of choices. The Catskill being number one on the list. We can also hit are small wild streams in the area. We will do it this summer.

Rich,

Will do I usually run into Kurt a few times over the winter.   Until we can work out a trip I will try to keep a nice supply of pics from the Clarion on the site come spring.

That big pool on that limestone you fish all the time would be a place in the summer as would some places on the Pequannock. Probally wont get a 20 incher but maybe a 17.
