Countersunk Beads or Not
« on: February 23, 2010, 03:12:35 PM »
Do you guys use countersunk beads or not?  I've always used countersunk beads and never had much trouble getting them around the hook.  Anyone use beads that aren't countersunk, like these, for example.

http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/SM-730148-0000

Any experience getting these around the hook shank for a Mustad C49S?

Lastly, any experience with slotted beads?

Thanks.

I always use the countersunk ones but if you could get them on the hook with no problem they should be a little heavier for their size.

I only use slotted beads on my jig hooks since the fit on the hook better.

I typically use contersunk beads as well (jig hooks being the main exception). I find it to be a great benefit when the countersunk area covers and protects the thread from the teeth of the trout.

I only use the countersunk beads also,The straight drilled beads DO NOT slide onto many of the different hook bends.
The slotted beads do offer more weight,I have not used them,I do not want to mess up the weighting system I  am currently using.

Your milage may vary.

Todd, I can tell that you are a very detail oriented person.  I am too, but I never payed attention to that detail.  Interesting point.

Yup, I know it.  Any experience sliding them on to Mustad C49S or Mustad S82s?
