Keep up the good work Dejon
« on: March 15, 2010, 02:56:15 PM »
I just want to say that it's nice to have a drama-free forum to post on with a lot of nice people on it.  I think Dejon is doing a great job, and he's getting more & more quality people on here, including quite a few of the guys from Team USA.  I think the move to have everyone post under their real name was a good one, as it eliminates anonymous people from trying to instigate.  I'd rather see quality members on here as opposed to quantity.  So I think we all owe Dejon a pat on the back.

Agreed! This is by far the most "drama-free" and user-friendly forum that I have come across (and I visit many of them around the globe).

Keep up the great work and ideas Dejon!!!

Here, here Torrey!  Conflicts and drama are prevelant in most forums no matter what type of board that it may be.  This one does a good job at keeping them at bay.  I think the "real" name helps with that also.  We have a top class group of guys on here, some top anglers.  Eventhough there are so many great anglers no one seems to "clique" up or pontificate their skills and makes others feel like their opinion is irrelevant.  Good job D and all the guys on here!!  True merit, like a river, the deeper it is, the less noise it makes.  ~Edward Frederick Halifax

Don't sell yourself short Dejon. You put a lot of hard work in here and it shows. TL is great cause it appeals to experienced anglers, beginners and everything in between. Everyone here has the same attitude of lets help each other catch more fish and thats the way it should be!

Great job Dejon!
I know it was no easy task.

I agree.  I've been a part of a few forums over the years, most of which are filled with so much bullshit, ego mania, and general douche baggery that you question yourself for even logging on.

I'm not going to lie, I thought the same thing would eventually happen here.  It normally does.  It hasn't yet though, and I'm pleasantly surprised.   There are a lot of self-important boners in the fly fishing world.  I know we all know at least one. ;D  Heck, I might even be one.   It's just nice to have a place to come and talk about fishing, and not have the high school type drama to deal with.  I don't really care about team or competitive fishing, and don't care about what team you fish for, I just want to talk about fishing.  I appreciate that Dejon has put together a place where I can do that.

So, thank you Dejon for not being a total boner and putting this thing together.  :-*

Pretty much what Chris said, there are hundreds of forums out there that proclaim their superiority or what have you.  I have found that forums can be a double edged sword, all's it takes is one person with a chip on their shoulder to take your posts out of context and go on a personal attack.  So far, it seems as the main theme, Flyfishing, has held true here.

Like Chris said, I too am not a competitive angler, but am intrigued to learn new techniques and things to add to the arsenal.   Nice work

Anglers are always going to see things differently and do things differently--often arriving at the same end, a fish to hand.  Good anglers will seek the opinions of others, no matter  how opposite to their own, and try to learn.  Maturity and self confidence welcomes free and open discussion and driven students of the sport get excited at new ways to do old things.

As long as these traits exists here I think folks will contribute.

But, if Kool-Aid starts getting served, shots get taken, and one-ups become mantra........

Let's hope that does not happen because I like the stuff you guys are offering up.

Ever see those "Accident Free for X day" signs at some Industrial Workplaces?

Should I put up a ticker: "Kool-Aid Free for 234 Days" ?

My wife said she saw a sign in front of a church on the east side of Buffalo: "Homicide Free: 2 Days."   :(

Seriously?   Lemming is someone who follows the likes of others almost like a cult, believing anything and everything that said person says, and said person almost considers themselve as a prophet of sorts, as if they invented the subject of which they are boasting their supremacy.   Never was much of a follower, always blazed my own path. Who needs the bs.....  Lifes too short, shut up and fish........

Well said Rich!

Its very odd that a person can post something on a fishing forum and there is a group of people shadowing them saying how incredible they are.....every single time they post.

Keep up the good work here!

I really appreciate all the support guys!

But just a reminder: you often become what you don't like when you spend a lot of time talking about it  ;)

So, what do you say!? Let's hear some fish reports or new techniques...
