They have been fracking wells for 100 years. The new technology is only related to the horizontal drilling process. Now the concern is the amounts of water that are used in the wells.

Not only is the concern with the amount of water they will use in the well but the water quality. When they horizontal frack they use the water to expend the shale...however, when they pump the water back out of the well it is loaded with all kinds of impurities that are harmful for the environment. There concerned that the contaminated water will make it's way to clean streams and water supplies and contaminate them. There looking into all kinds of purifying systems and storm water control for the fracking in which I'm heavily involved since I work for a Civil Engineering firm...I've done several storm water plans for fracking sites...but to let everyone know it is still a big mess and still a big problem!

We have been working for years to cleanup the streams and lakes,I think were in trouble.
