Ok so I go out to the market on lunch and I happened to walk down the lane with the magazines. For some reason I stopped and found a couple fly fishing rags. Then I thought I guess I had not picked up a fishing mag in a few years so I should get one. I just stopped reading them altogether because it seemed like every issue was the same over and over again. I could not make up my mind on which one to get... I just got both. When I got to the checkout they were 6 BUCKS EACH!

when did this happen? I felt like saying to the girl never mind but I just bought them anyway. I guess I didn't realize that they were so expensive because I subscribed to them and just paid it all at once. So most of us on this board are grizzled vets... do any of you still read the fly fishing mags? And if so what do you like the best about them... It seems to me that I enjoy the John Gierach stories at the end of FRR the best. Do you know how much dubbing you can buy with 12 bucks? $:-\$

I rarely buy rags anymore. One in awhile I'll buy a few when I know I'm going to be stuck waiting somewhere like a hospital or airport. And a few times a year I'll pick up better looking issues to see what the "pros" are doing as far as photo quality and angles.

I just find much better information on the Internet. Catchmagazine outshines any photography in the top rags. Forums provide endless and more in depth "tidbit" information than the rags can. And anything outside of that you need to go to more indepth sources like video or book.

Yeah they are expensive at cover price. I like Fly rod and Reel (for the same reason - Gierach), American Angler, and Fly Tyer. I have subs to those mags so the price is greatly reduced. I have let my sub to Fly Fisherman end, that is the mag that doesn't interest me anymore, I'm not sure why specifically, but I think it is like you said "the same over and over again".

I have been subscribed to the New York State Outdoor News for a few years, now that has some great info. In season, the fishing articles are great. And there is a fly fishing article (written by Morgan Lyle) in every issue.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with you. Well, from a fishing standpoint at least
