So my question is ... Was last nights gully washer the rain we have been waiting and waiting for?  Will this finally bring the fish up the tribs in fishable numbers?  I am tired of waiting :)

Rob, Lets go inland this weekend  :P

I have a feeling that this weekend will be more of the same but with better looking water. It should get the ball rolling though... Probably will be better in the lower sections. Unless all the fish got tired of waiting and went to the Catt  ;)

This season is killing me. At least I remembered to bring my 5 wt last weekend.

Catt on a 1400 spike. I'd get out while the getting is good...

D- I'm counting on you to have this sorted out  ;)
Complex issue, many factors, but the good news is, there's a WHOLE LOT of steelheading to be done between now and smallmouth season!
This big soak can't be bad for the smaller tribs, and a little more water in the ground will help- for a while. Now, 1/4 in. per night for the next 2 weeks would be nice. D- you can arrange that, right?

Wow! 2 things have me really spooked about this. I just checked the Walnut Cr. (PA) gage and it is dropping almost as quickly as it went up yesterday- from 35 cfs. to 500 in 7 hrs. and already back down to 277 since midnight. I know that these tribs drain quickly, but geez! Also scary was that the stream temp peaked at 16 deg. C last night, up from a low of 8 a week ago. That's a big move in the wrong direction, IMO. Or, a big signal to the waiting hoards! We can only hope.

Bill don't worry too much rain will always raise the temp of these streams.  The huge spike and drop are pretty normal.  Remember what happens is the rain comes, the water raises and the group of fish that were waiting at the mouth run.  The water will always drop back down ... You just hope you get some more supporting rain over the next little while to keep the level up to where the fish feel comfortable.  The forecast has some rain the rest of this week and more next... It might be ok ???
