Hi Everyone

My name is John Nishi and I have been a student of competitive fly-fishing for several years. My competition experience originated when I signed up with Team Northwest Territories for the first Canadian National Fly Fishing Championships and Conservation Symposium in Russell, Manitoba in fall 2003. I was totally blown away by that first experience - the combination of learning, sportsmanship, competition and having fun fishing with a great bunch of team-mates is hard to beat - and keeps me coming back for more.

I am totally new to internet forum sites, and had to spend several minutes trying to figure out how to post this initial note...

Anyhow, I just signed in to this site as I had heard great things about it.... from fellow Canucks and team-mates - Todd Oishi, Terence Courtoreille and Rob Stroud (who I think are all members), and most recently while sharing a boat on a lake in Quebec with Mr. Robbie Bell at the Canadian Nationals, and then several days ago, while logged in to Facebook I had an unexpected yet pleasant text message conversation with Mr. Dejon Hamman himself!

Anyhow, I thought I would say a quick hello and wish everyone a safe and warm holiday season both in North American and beyond. In southern Alberta, we have had our first solid winter snowfall with about 8-10 inches falling overnight and there has been the requisite number of fender benders and accidents. So please drive and play safe over the coming holiday season and season of snow and ice.

Welcome John! Glad you signed up. Great to have your experience and knowledge in the mix.

We're usually chin deep in snow this time of year, but I'm still working outside in a T-shirt and there isn't a spec on the ground. Unbelievable change of pace. Even the Deer and Geese look a little confused.

Good to have you on board here John.

It was also great to share a boat with you on Taunton Lake earlier this year.

A priveledge for me to see one of the great "hangs" of competition fishing in action.

Hopefully a little trip to Calgary next year may just be on the cards.
