Hello from Montreal

Hey all,

I have been fly fishing for a couple years now, but I never had much success - until this summer...

I was fortunate enough to meet Jeremiah and Ivo on the Diable in Mont Tremblant. They were picking up fish left and right, while my buddy and I were skunking it hard, as usual. Around lunch time (while still rocking a 0 fish count),  I went over to Jeremiah and asked him for some tips. One thing lead to another, and Jeremiah and Ivo generously took the time to teach me the basics that had somehow eluded me all these years.

Sure enough, after Ivo pointed out a good spot and suggested a pair of heavy nymphs (I had been fishing on the surface in high, fast water), I hooked into a nice big brown! What a great feeling that was. I spent the rest of the day fishing with Jeremiah while he coached me.

For the rest of the summer, Jeremiah and Ivo were nice enough to keep on inviting me out, showing me great trout streams, and teaching me a ton about fly fishing along the way.

Today, I am the proud owner of a beautiful Echo Shadow rod, and french leader, a curlie, a 2 nymph rig, and all the fish that come with this efficient fishing style.

Thanks to the generosity of these two anglers, I have found a new passion for the sport and I plan on competing next year. I really enjoy this blog and look forward to learning and sharing with you guys.

Now, THAT'S what it's all about!  Great intro!  Welcome to the forum Phil.  There are many great anglers here willing to share information.  This sport will continue to grow with people like Jeremiah and Ivo.  Nicely done guys!

After talkiing to J and Ivo you'll obviously know why I've hooked up with them for competing.  Lol!

The only think that sucks about those two is that Quebec is a long ways from BC...
