Hi From Australia
« on: June 19, 2011, 12:45:59 AM »
Hi All,
My name is David hemphill, I live in Australia and have been looking at the forum for a while and enjoying it. I mostly fish lakes loch style. I came across this forum while looking for information / tips to improve my river fishing technique, for comp fishing. I have picked up a few tips which has been great. I think the forum is well put together and there are some great subjects covered. Thanks for letting me be part of this forum.

All the best Dave

Hi
I live in the capital -Canberra on the northern edge of our mountain's. My parents live at Adaminaby in the middle of our best mainland trout fishing area. Loren Roo is becoming more popular to eat now but not for me, to busy trying to miss the  roo's with my car as they are a traffic hazard round here. Although Roo fur is not a bad fly tying material. Hi,
Jeremiah are you in the Canadian Team coming over? The Commonwealth comp is being held in Tasmania which is the Island at the botton of the mainland, which is over 1000 kms from where I live. Tasmania has some great fishing and is known as the land of 3000 lakes.

..and those freaking tiger snakes and white-assed spiders or whatever they are called. I fished Tassie in 2007 during the Oceanas.  We fished the Derwant and Tyenna and Little Pine, Dee and Bronte lagoons.  Very intersting lakes for sure!

Welcome David!  Great to have more loch-style anglers around to share their input.  It's still a style rarely touched in NA.

I heard stories about the snakes in Taz...

The snakes and spiders you get to learn to live with them. I've had a couple close calls with snakes out fishing. I almost put my hand on a Tiger snake climbing out of a creek oneday, made my heart skip a few beats. Loren are you coming out for the next Oceanas this year? Don't you guy have rattle snakes and other snakes around your streams and rivers?

Dave,

As far as I know a team has not yet been identified to fish the Oceanas...sure would love to come back!

Yes, we had venomous snakes.  I lived near prime rattler country most of my life and never saw one.  Visited Tassie for a bit over a week and saw two tigers...eeewww.  I think it was Devin that pulled his sheets back and found a spider..I did not sleep well after that :)

Critters aside, I loved the fishing and the folks and especially the food!  You guys have some giant plants down there!
