Hi everyone,

I'm Fraser, a fly fisherman from Australia. I have been fly fishing for two and half years now, fly fishing in Australian competitions since last year.

At the beginning of 2010, I travelled to Finland to spend one year there, as an exchange student. I am still in Finland and have had a great time fishing across the country.

I recently attended the Finnish Nationals as a controller, and I have attended nymphing workshops run by the Finnish European team.

I have joined this forum because I would like to learn more about fly fishing, competition fly fishing, and also contribute too.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on the Forum here !

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I am living in Lohja, a small town about 60km from the Finnish capital Helsinki.

There are lakes everywhere in Finland, with just about all containing pike and perch, and the local Lohjan jarvi (lake) is no exception. There are a few decent trout streams quite close by, about half an hour away, but by and large, you need to travel to the North to get some good fishing. Tornijoki, Utsjoki, Paatsjoki and Torniojoki, where the best fishing is, are all places up in Lapland above the arctic circle.

While at the Finnish Nationals controlling, I took many notes and videos too, which are now on Youtube. I picked up some good points watching and talking to the competitors. I will make a thread this week discussing what I saw with links to the videos.
