If youre fishing the crafton section, take some poppers, and your glock.

Crafton's that bad now?  Wow, I'd never had thought.  It was such a great little boro when I was a kid.  I'll be staying at my mother's house, up the hill from the Main St hotel in Carnegie.  I'll probably hit the sretch along the tracks starting at the old steel mill and working down stream.

Find the river using google maps.  Use the satelite view and zoom in.  You can find stream access, structure, etc. to fish.  I use it to find new places to fish the stream.

Near the Chem Tech building (Chartiers Valley High School), close to Trader Jacks flea-market, and the Sharp Edge (Crafton) are good spots.

The sharp Edge, was that once named Maggie Mae's?  I'm talking maybe 35-40 years ago.

Tim,
I was tracing the creek upstream and I discovered something that I had forgot.  Back in the 70's when I was a kid I used to fish for trout in a tributary of Chartiers.  The creek's name is Linden Creek. After flowing by Lindenwood Golf Course (I fished that stretch while my Dad golfed) Linden Creek is impounded to form Cannonsburg Lake.  Have you ever fished it?  This was before I discovered spinning reels and i was still using a fly rod and reel my dad gave me.  I also fished a pond on the golf course, one of my favorite things was catching the many bullfrogs there using a big black and gold bass popper ....lol.   I can't believe I had forgotten this.  At the time I think I was like 9 or 10 years old.

I've never fished the lake, but little chartiers creek is the name of the water that flows out of the dam and joins up with chartiers creek.  Little Chartiers Creek has anything the lake has in it including trout, bass, carp, etc.  If I am going to fish near the lake I fish downstream of where Little Chartiers and Chartiers connect.

I've caught trout from the lake as far down stream as the flea-market.
