Very General Discussion / Re: The Joy Of Controlling« Last post by Dell Neighbours on Yesterday at 06:59:48 PM »I agree, more times than not I enjoy controlling a fellow competitor. I got to spend all day judging Nick Johnson sunday and it was interesting watching him attack a technical section of water on the Ravens Fork. He was a machine picking apart the pockets and wading waist deep in hauling ass water. I learned a lot to say the least. I didn't have time to soak in any nature, I had to hump it to keep up with him!

Nymph Fishing Techniques / Re: Nymphing with Upstream Wind« Last post by Dejon Hamann on Yesterday at 05:40:01 PM »Matt,
I've had great success lately long lining with a nice high floating dry beneath the sighter. I can cast out and anchor with the dry to let the flies get depth, then pick it up, lead the flies, lay it down, etc 7
Nymph Fishing Techniques / Re: Nymphing with Upstream Wind« Last post by Jim Frazier on Yesterday at 05:24:39 PM »Matt , I would walk up or down stream and look for a sharp bend in the creek for a wind block , If thats not an option i would toss the french nymphing out the window. I would definitley not have my .015 sighter material under the surface because of drag ! If it is that windy that means that the water surface is broken making it great for getting closer to the fish and using a closer approach . I would only work a section of water that i could reach with very little leader out of the guides with the rod tip close to the water as possible. Wind against a leader with a high rod tip can lift the nymphs out of the zone without you even realizing it . If you still want to fish to fish that are far away then throw a suspender and nymphs under it . Hope this helps . These are all my ideas and expieriences i am not a comp. fisherman so take it for what it is worth. Good luck

General Discussion / Re: River Fishing: Featureless Slow Moving Stretches?« Last post by Jim Frazier on Yesterday at 05:12:02 PM »Skip it ... now on a more serious note I would hope there is a hatch of something coming off to tell me where the fish are in the column or atleast help . Thingamabobber and split and roll bottom , hatch - maybe slow strip a soft hackle or put one on the top dropper esp. for a caddis hatch for example . If no results using these tactics i would look up to the sky and pray to the trout gods for some risers
