I've been using these hooks for a few months now and love them. They are nothing like the old Mustad hooks. These are super sharp, I talking about they stick to your finger when you reach in the pack to get them out. They have a mini barb which is a huge improvment over the old Mustad barb which was HUGE. I started buying them because my local fly shop was out of the Tiemco hook I usually use for my czech nymphs and I saw these. They are a few bucks cheaper which is really nice and I'm convinced they are just as good as Tiemco and I now buy the whole line of hooks over anything else. I've also been looking for a straight eye czech nymph hook and unless something goes horribly wrong while fishing it I found what I'm looking for in their C49S hook. The profile on this hook is outstanding and my czech nymphs look awsome on it. If your looking to save a few bucks on hooks give these a shot and you won't have to sacrifice anything. Thats my sales pitch for Mustad signature hooks, you'd think I worked for them or something. On a side not in my opinion the regular Mustad hooks are trash.

$4 for 25 thats not to bad

Super sexy czech nymphs

nice find!  at that price I will have to try them out.  Mustad has been really trying to get back into the hook market that they ruled at one time.  I really like their small midge size hooks! I never had a problem with any of there 20 or small hooks.

Nice review.  Always nice to see an old company making new moves.

Hey BL,

What is the appeal of a straight eye 'czech nymph' hook?

Do you fish these hooks de-barbed?

Thanks,
KDC

Hey!  Glad you dropped by the forum finally Grin  Kevin is a good friend and probably knows more about hooks then anyone I've met.  Speaking of which, do you still have some of those Grips on closeout?  And what's the price on those Tungsten Beads? I'm sure there are a few members here who might be interested.

Kev: I just like the look of the differnt profile in the larger sizes and in the smaller sizes I think the straight eye opens up the hook gap for better hook ups.

The hooks I just fish the way they are.
