is there an advantage to using datum glo brite versus danville or utc thread in the same colors.

Brett,

No, I don't think it matters.  The Ultra 70 fluorescent threads are also extremely bright under the UV lamp.  The Glo-Bright is also sort of thick for small flies (I would say it is bigger than 3/0 thread).

I don't use Danville thread.

there is a huge difference. If you try to epoxy, glue, or otherwise coat the dog collar with any type of head cement,   the regular threads don't hold their original color. If you dont coat them with something, the threads will fray after several fish.  the glo brite floss will hold its original color when wet and/or covered in any glue or head cement.

Randy, thanks, perhaps I should use the Glo-Bright more.  When I coat a FL Orange hotspot from thread, I use FL Orange nail polish and that helps bind the collar and enhance the UV.  There are also clear UV head cements available.  The Glo-Bright is also quite thick for flies less than a 14 or so; I really like a thin hotspot, when I use one.

Rich, I thought that was you, glad you got out.  Fishing was fair.  Water is typical late summer warm, at 68.  Nymphing was slow, but streamer bite was good.  Many river bottom areas got moved around and there are many new sand deposits.  Morgan Brook actually split in two and formed an island.  Fish of the day for me was a 10in wild brookie.  It was nice to be out.

Alain,

I hear you about the river.  The streamer bite was very good, even on the swing.  I scaled my streamers down in size and had pulls all day.  Should be a good fall, there are some great new gravel beds opened up for the fish to do their thing on too.
