For those that do not read the articles by Jeremy Lucas in the english magazine Fly Fishing and Fly Tying thought I would share some patterns from his recent article. I have also been using a lot of the stripped quill patterns and the simplicity of these patterns from Europe appeal to me.

Bottom - Yellow Quill Nymph

Hook: Your Favourite Nymph Hook #12-18
Bead: Copper Tungsten;#12-14; use 2.5 mm Tungsten; #16-18 use 2mm
Thread: 14/0 Primrose
Tail: CDL
Body: Yellow Stripped Peacock Quill; coat with varnish to protect
Thorax: Rabbit Dubbing; I used Jacks Rabbit Antron but any rabbit will do.

Middle - Partridge and Yellow

Hook: TMC 2499SP-BL #12-18
Thread: 14/0 Primrose
Body: Yellow Stripped Peacock Quill; coat with varnish to protect
Hackle: Brown Partridge

This pattern has a bit more hackle then I would normally put on my wets but hey it works and why change it.

Top - Yellow Single Plume

Hook: Hanak 103BL #12-18
Thread: 14/0 Primrose
Tail: CDL; Split
Body: Yellow Stripped Peacock Quill; coat with varnish to protect
Thorax (optional): Mole Fur
Hackle: Single Plume CDC

This dry is design for glides and wary fish.

Very nice. What source are you getting you're peacock quill? I haven't seen any down here in our shops.

Nice patterns Arron, I just order the combo pack and 2 natural and 2 olive, can't wait until they get here.

"Good Posting". 1 design = 3 patterns... doesn't get much better then that.

I'd also like to hear some sources and further tips on the quills.

Kevin Compton @ performance flies carriers the Stripped Peacock Quills...Otherwise you need to buy the peacok eyes...dye them and strip them your self.
