I am excited to announce and host the 1st ever Chittenango Creek Comp on April 22nd.  This is a Bronze Level event for the Trout Legend League. This is the 1st of 4 events to take place in the Syracuse (Central New York) area. This comp will feature 2 sectors of water which are greatly different from each other to make the most our of your trip.

Fish: Wild and Stocked Brown Trout.

Sector 1:
Water Type: Swift runs, riffles and deep holes
Comp Water: Entire Fly Fishing Catch & Release Only Section from Dyke Road Upstream.
Practice Water: Downstream of Dyke Road

Sector 2:
Water Type: Steep gradient with fast pocket water
Comp Water: Upstream of Fenner Town Line starting at Public Fishing Rights Section
Practice Water: Upstream of Fenner Town Line to start of Public Fishing Rights Section

Details:
Limited to 16 competitors.
$20 / Competitor
50/50 1st Place Prize
Please provide your own transportation and Lunch.
Competitors will fish 2, 1.5 hour beats and control 2 beats (1 per sector).
Competitors will be split into 2 groups

Schedule of Events:
7:30: Meet at DEC parking lot on Olmstead Road.
7:45am: Beat Draw
8:00am: Competitors and Controllers to beats
8:30am – 10:00am: Sector 1: Group 1
10:30am – 12:00pm: Sector 1: Group 2
12:15pm – 12:45pm Lunch
1:00pm – 2:30pm Sector 2: Group 2
3:00pm – 4:30pm Sector 2: Group 1

No-Fish:
A comp water no-fish policy will be in affect starting Sunday April 15th at 8pm.  Practice water will remain open.

Hotel:
Event Hotel will be the Holiday Inn Express Fairgrounds located at intersection of I90 and I690 for $89.95 per night.  Discount Rate Keyword for use will be “Action Sports – Fly Fishing”.  You must call (315) 701-5000 to make your reservation to get this discount as online will not have this rate code.  This hotel is located about 25-30 min from the venue and will be home base for the event.

Great to see new anglers.  Not to worry, I am new to all of this as of May this past year.  You will learn more about fly fishing in 1 day fishing and controlling than you could possibly imagine and there are some very good anglers coming to this.  Attracting new anglers is also why I have added 6 reserved spots for new local angers not familiar with TL or FIPS.  (credit goes to Loren on that idea)

I live in Dalton, PA. Probably around a 2 and a half hour drive. I am 15 minutes north of Scranton, PA, right off of I 81. Hopefully I make it onto the list. Would love to get up and fish with all of you. ALso may be interested in the June competition. But I have to make sure the dates don't conflict with the Teva Mountain Games in Vail.

Yep,  This place is has gotten crazy recently.  If you are not on within hours of a posting you miss out.  I have taken this into consideration for the future in that I want to make sure I set aside enough water to handle upwards of 16 beats so that then I can have 8 long beats for a regional and all the water has been "tested".

Also please note this comp will have 24 anglers but 6 are reserved for locals so if these do not get filled a few weeks before event I will open these spots.
