It's official -
THE AMERICA CUP 2012 WILL BE HELD IN VAIL, CO
SEPTEMBER 20-23, 2012

20th Registration - Draw - Meeting
21-23 - Fishing Days - Loch and River

Registration info coming soon - save the date!

Like we say here in the Valley - "Bring it, don't sing it!"

16 - 5 man team limit.
Get your anglers together and request the time off. It's going to be other awesome event in the high country!

I am working to reduce the entry costs from last year.
I know it is a journey to get here, but after scoring over 2,000 trout in 2011 - we all know the quality of the water.

Yes Sir! We will be offering a Masters Clinic for Loch Style and River (separately) the week before the week of the tournament. Michael and brother Thomas will be instructing. Here is a bit of the layout - a more formal version will be posted once we've worked out some of the details. These will be 1 day clinics and we will offer several.

My name is Mike Drinan,
Some of you may know me from the competition circuit or from the America cup.
Next year I'm going to be running Loch Style and river Master classes in the Colorado State before the America cup.
My brother Tom who finished 5th in the worlds in Italy will also be helping me run the courses.
Dates,Venues and prices are yet to be finalized.

The loch style course will look at:
Methods,flies,line control,boat management, technique and applying new sweep lines on the water.

River courses will include:
Reading the water,flies,drift rates,leader set up,on all aspects of nymphing.

Credentials

Mike Drinan.
Qualified guide and casting instructor Salmon and trout.
Winner of the American cup 2008 (individual)
Silver Medals America cup 2010 (Team Emerger)
4th place individual American cup 2010.
Gold Medals America cup 2011 (Team Emerger)
4th place individual America cup 2011.
7th individual at European Flyfishing Championship Solvenia 2006.
14th individual at European Flyfishing Championship Czech rep 2011.
Have Guided and fished across Europe and the states.
Irish River Champion.
The most Capped Irish International (T.A.F.I)

Tom Drinan

Rank 5th in the world flyfishing championships in Italy 2011.
Irish river Champion.
Fishing Guide
Extensive knowledge on river and lake techniques on trout and grayling.
Has also fished across Europe and the states.

I encourage anyone interested in improving their techniques and 'bag of tricks' on the river or lake to sign up! This is a real once in a life time opportunity to learn the secrets and tricks from two very seasoned European professionals.

Each year after The Cup I have gotten the privilege to fish with Michael and each time the comments he has provided me has improved my game tremendously. Subtle nuances to this and that make the difference on the water between being an average fisherman or that guy that just crushes it all the time!

Marc, I highly recommend that you consider attending the America Cup, as it's a well-run and great venue. Your team will benefit greatly from the experience!!
