is there a cut off so to speak as to when to hang up the streamers for the year or do alot of you guys fish them all year with good results ?

Not to be a wise guy but I'd say 31 degrees as the water would be frozen

I'm not sure there is a water temp that is too cold! I will fish streamers the entire winter, but I fish them much slower when the water gets cold. In fact a lot of times when the water is cold(40 degrees or less) I will dead drift them. There are two reasons for this. The fish are much more lethargic in cold water and will not chase a streamer down as well and stripping a streamer when the air temp is below freezing will ice up your guides much more quickly.

The only time I will totally avoid fishing streamers is on a day like today where the temperature does not get above the mid teens. These kind of days I will strictly euro nymph and try to keep the same amount of line out of my guides at all times. The ice build up can be killer if you are stripping line in and out constantly.
