Goin' Fishin' Music ?
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:28:16 PM »
OK, we had a Beer thread, so why not a music thread?
I haven't had the chance to fish in a few weeks, but sitting at my computer working, with iTunes going, and there's always a few songs that remind me of going fishing, or songs I like to hear on the way to the river.  So, I'll start...here's a few of mine, in no particular order, kinda random depending on the mood of the day:

"Sandusky" - Uncle Tupelo
"Web Before You Walk Into It" - The Gourds
"A P O" - Futurebirds
"Been All Around The World" - Grateful Dead
"Chilly Water" - Widespread Panic
"Soul Singin'" - The Black Crowes
"Flashes & Cables" -Centro-Matic
"Bulls on Parade" - Rage Against the Machine
"Sweet Life" - Varnaline
"Devoted to Lonesome" - The Dexateens

This may sound strange but before I fish I'm either listening to death metal or blue grass. I know the difference is huge but that's the way it is.

Cool...this should be fun...seems like it's always either hard rock or bluegrass...like I said, depends on the mood...

I've been listening to The Streets to and from fishing lately... because the dam cd is stuck in my cd player.  If it's not the streets then it's either mainstream country, npr, or religion... I live in the country now.

Country music and fishing just seem to go together.....works for me!  Not much into the heavy stuff.

I am pretty much just country.  I have a habit of listening to Brad Paisley more often than anything.

D don't get me wrong I like the sounds of outside too. But I usually keep at least one ear bud in when I am out by myself. If I am fishing with a bunch of folks then I won't but I can definitely see myself keeping them in during comps so I don't lose my concentration.

I know some can really get in the zone when they are listening to music doing a task.  When I'm at the tying desk music really helps me to punch through the boredom of repetition.  For me it's kind of the opposite when fishing though - i feel like i get disconnected from those slight signals like that almost imperceptible sound a fish makes on a rise, or the quiet whoosh of a wind knot.... or that drift boat guide about to run you over!

Listening to music would definitely help with motivation after fatigue or a dry spell though, but it's just another piece of gear I'd rather not manage.

I'm never without my ipod. Depends on my mood as to what I'm listening to.

Check out Reel Grease, cool fly fishing tunes there http://www.reelgrea.se/
