It’s basic, it’s black, it’s a baetis or can be used as a pmd if tied in 16-18
size 18-20
tail- pheasant
abdomen- 6/0 black or olive unithread
wire- extra small gold
wing case- black or olive biot. wing case goes black just befor emergence
thorax- black sow bug, yellow scud, hares ear guard hairs
The BWO’s out this way turn almost black befor emergence and the thorax starts to go a goldish color.

Thats a great looking fly! One of the first hatches to come up here in Ontario is the BWO. I’ll be tying a few of these up for opening weekend here.
